Confidentiality

Counselling is confidential. You may wish to let other people know you are seeing a counsellor but that is your decision.

I will only make contact with you or acknowledge you outside of the counselling room in a way that you are happy for me to and we can agree this on our first meeting.

Confidentiality may be broken if I feel either you or someone else may be in danger and if possible I will discuss this with you first. This is something we talk about in the first session and you will have a copy of our working agreement to refer to.

I keep some short factual notes to maintain consistency. These do not contain your name or identifiable details and are only for my own personal use.

I keep very brief information for 5 years in line with my insurers documentation.
